Decatur, Georgia wanted a website that was "more than a typical government website." This meant providing the community with content that increases transparency, is engaging, and has a colorful design. 

The old website lacked many features one would expect on a modern website. However, it did give the community a place to find city information and transparent content, the design, and the organization needed to improve. The overwhelming amount of links and photos presented at once made it difficult to navigate and quickly locate content. Also, staff had a hard time updating pages and needed a better way to ensure content remained fresh. 

When searching for a web designer, Decatur ultimately settled on a long time partner of over 40 years: Municode. This relationship began with codification, and as the company added more solutions for local governments, Decatur wanted to utilize Municode's Website Design & Hosting. On the homepage, the community is greeted with rotating images of the city and bright colors found on the Decatur seal. Navigating the homepage is a breeze with a top mega menu and key links below the main image. These links are based on the most visited sites and include an event calendar. Scrolling down will reveal the most pertinent news stories as well as a button to view all news. On the staff's end, a new content management system is so easy to use that non-technical staff members need little, if any, training on how to utilize it effectively. This allows every page to remain up to date and brings more transparency to the Decatur community.
